my art

You’ve probably noticed by now that I draw a sleepy-looking stick figure. That’s eef!
“eef” came about when I did a journalling project back in 2006. I wrote or drew something in a paper journal everyday. EVERY DAY! That’s an amazing amount of commitment for me!
I always signed my drawings “eef” since those are my initials. Eventually, I ended up drawing this stick figure guy almost everyday and started calling him/her/it “eef”.
If you’d like to see some old eef stuff, I have a lot of it on my Flickr account.

Anyhow, from there I started drawing sleepy-eyed cats and cups of coffee and on and on, and today I am working on improving my original concept and turning some of these things into nifty journals or t-shirts, or what have you. Mostly for myself. I like being covered in my own artwork. I guess that’s egotistical, but I don’t really care. I make art to make myself happy.
eef is a pretty emotional character. I began drawing him to help express how I felt about my (now ex) boyfriend being a $%*@ or the stress I was feeling in college. Also, being tired all the time. I was exhausted through much of 2006! I LIVED on caffeine. Senior year of college and a rocky relationship will do that to you. But in the end I at least got a cute character out of it. Oh, and a worthless degree.
So that’s how eef came about! I hope to continue to improve my concept and maybe even make a zine or something someday. I have a lot of ideas in my head, but translating them to tangible objects is somewhat difficult. At least it is for me!
Stay tuned to my blog for future scribbles!
