So, I feel as if I should be blogging, but maybe I’m blogging just for the sake of blogging? Who knows. Doesn’t matter. Only about three people read this anyhow!
Here is what I have been up to!
Yesterday Anthony and I went for a jog on the beach. Which sounds lovely, but in reality you get sand in your shoes and then your feet get wet and then you have wet sand in your shoes. Also, sometimes there are waves that you have to avoid. Granted, this is better than running would be back home. I mean, I’m not slipping on ice.
I have been working very hard (not really) on a blanket! I bought some beautiful Noro yarn (the teal/magenta one!) at a local yarn store here. You would think that 165 yards of bulky-weight yarn would go decently far, wouldn’t you? Well, I’ve only ever made hats and scarves, so I poorly misjudged how much yarn I would need and have now spent an entire unemployment check on yarn! (Not really… quite)
But it is beautiful. I have one more square to do and then a border. I picked up some grey cotton yarn and some black acrylic to crochet together to make the border. I think it will turn out okay. I hope. If not, I’m not sure what I’ll do. But in any case, it should be very pretty. I’ll try and remember to take a photo. I kept meaning to, but that would have meant I’d have to get off the couch and get my camera.
Speaking of sitting on the couch, while I have been working on this blanket, I have been watching The OC. I had never seen it before and Anthony has it on DVD. It’s far more entertaining than I could have imagined.
When my fingers aren’t busy crocheting I’ve been reading. Real actual books. Well, somewhat real. I mean, there’s no depth to them at all. But that’s okay. I’m currently enthralled by the Sookie Stackhouse/True Blood novels. Yes. I love vampires. But I’m too old to be seen reading Twilight. Although I could have gotten away with it in the Abrams. Since everyone else there was obsessed. Anyhow, the Sookie Stackhouse novels are very entertaining and very quick reads. I’ve gone through three of them since I’ve been here. And Sookie is 25, which means I’m younger than the characters in the books (and not just the vampires) which makes it okay for me to read them, right?
I think so.
I started to read an actual book. I borrowed Franny and Zooey from Anthony’s dad, Arnie. I just had trouble getting into it. I’m going to give it another go since I’m just about out of vampirey-goodness (until I take another trip to the bookstore!). I don’t know. It’s a weird switch. I mean, 10 pages in and no one’s been bitten or murdered or anything good (you know what I mean). Very strange.
With this whole reading thing I’ve been doing lately I wanted to put in a booklist/shelf widget for my sidebar, but I can’t easily access my webpage without my computer to install the plugin. I mean, I could download the software and put it on Anthony’s laptop and all that, but last time I tried to install a plugin I had problems anyhow since there’s something up with my FTP access. I suspect this is because I used to have a different domain as the primary and now that’s gone and there is no primary domain… I blather. No one cares about this, not even me. Short point is that I don’t think it’s worth the trouble right now.
I started a Shelfari account because I thought that might be easier, but want fewer accounts to manage, not more. I want everything to be taken care of through one account.
Hear that Google? I DO want you to take me over. Just make Blogger better and I’m sold.
And Picasa. ‘Cause srsly, that shit sucks.
Ramble, ramble, blather.
Also, since Im rambling anyhow, what is the point of Twitter? I mean really. I’m trying to get it, but I just don’t.

I feel like the point of twitter is to allow you to keep up with people you’re interested in, without having to read entire blogs (which I don’t always have time for). I use it to keep up with links and other quick news from artists, writers, and musicians I like, and to promote my various postings. I can’t say I spend a ton of time on it, though. I’m a bit baffled by people who are addicted to twitter. I’m just not that interesting in 140 character bites.
Post pics of the blanket!

See, I get that point of twitter. And I do have one where I post shop updates and stuff… I guess I just don’t get the
“hai guyz, i’m drinking coffee!”
“uh-oh, tyme 4 a coffee refill!”
“yay! more coffee!”
I just don’t get those kind of updates. Why would I care? As far artists and updates on things like new items… Makes total sense. But that doesn’t seem to be what a lot of people use it for.
