About the Name
“eef-ink” is short for “Erin E Flynn Comics, Illustrations, and Scribbles.” The Erin E Flynn (me) being the “eef” and the rest being things that I use “ink” to make. It’s a bit abstract, but concise.
About Erin
I’m a 20-something, part-time artist (which makes me even more starving than usual) who enjoys drawing silly comics. After college I worked a few horrible jobs (great inspiration for my comics, but terrible at the time), but in May of 2011 I’d had enough and decided to call it quits and try my own thing. Right now I’m trying to get my own business up and running (hosting and managing websites/social media for companies), but in the meantime I’m perfectly happy to drink coffee and draw all day!
Besides drawing I also enjoy: playing with websites (been making them since I was 13), reading (I love Sookie Stackhouse, Vampire Chronicles, Arthurian legend, fantasy, and some sci-fi), crocheting, watching way too much on Netflix (Doctor Who, Torchwood, Heroes, Dollhouse, other geeky stuff), traveling (when I get a chance), and making stuff (I’m always working on something).
About eef
“eef” came about when I did a journalling project back in 2006. I wrote or drew something in a paper journal everyday, and I always signed my drawings “eef” since those are my initials. Eventually, I ended up drawing this stick figure almost everyday and started calling him/her/it “eef”. If you’d like to see some old eef stuff, I have a lot of it on my Flickr account.
I took a hiatus from regular drawing from the end of 2007 until the end of 2009 when I was busy living in Germany and traveling every weekend. My love for coffee got even stronger though, as I worked in a pseudo-Starbucks. I drew a lot of coffee cups while working there.
I recently began making “actual comics,” which are a lot harder for me than one-panels. I’m really enjoying this stage though as I feel like I’m finally developing a signature style and can focus less on HOW to draw and more on what to draw.
And yes, I used to have to focus on how to draw a stick figure. Still do, sometimes. =]
